The Age of Google {cat 4.5}

Collecting data is part of human history, long before the age of the internet the only ways to gain information was either to read it or hear it. Although these tools have not change the method of how we get the data has. Now in today’s world have access to more information than ever before thanks to the internet. You can find out about anything from how to deep fry a turkey to what year was the first car was built all that knowledge is simply a few keystroke away But now that we have easy access to all this knowledge the question that many people are asking is does that make us smarter or does make lazy. In the article “is Google making us stupid?” author Nicholas Carr explores that question.

In the article that author states that the age of the internet has spoiled us; now that we have access to all this information we have lazy in knowledge seeking. Carr say that intelligent is not judged on how fast you gain knowledge but how well you understand it. Carr state that these entire search engines prove more this distractions than information with all the ads on their web site and with all these distraction you are able hold to the knowledge you find.

I believe that mister Carr has point; I always believe that knowledge should be earned through hard work. It like they always say it not the destination it the journey that matters. I think it that journey to information that let you keep allow me to explain. In High school one of classes I always struggle in was biology. In the beginning of the class I couldn’t understand any of terms it the book. During the in class lectures I couldn’t keep up with the other students in the class and on the first test I took score any 35 out of 100 let just say my mother was to happy with that score. Now normal I pick up on most things pretty quickly but with this class I was slow. My teacher offer to give me some help after school; I spend hours with her going over terms, doing extra credit work and more. Slowly my grades when up from a F to a respectable C+. The point I am trying to make is that because that hard work a lot of the knowledge I receive from her I still remember to this day.

Carr also state that search engine prove more distractions then answers and with those distractions you unable to retain the knowledge you gain. This statement is true because of the way the net works. All search engines are free web sites the way they genrate capital to maintain themselves is by posting Ads on their sites.

5.1 blog cat

      How much time you do you spend online a day? It is a question that you dont find dont find to many people asking now. Between desktop,laptop,game system and smart phonewe as a soceity spend more that half our time sending recvieing information. so the real questions should be what kind of information are you reciving and what kind of  information are sending out? For many years the techers and parents have been against using the internet as a tool for learning.The arugment has always been that the net is not a reiable place to find information.However they're is a new generation of teachers that want to use  the internetnet as a tool for learning and connect with thier students. one of these  individual is Dr. larrry Rosen in his article "rewired" discuss how teachers can utilize the internet as an educational tool in the process.Just like Dr.rosen i believe that techology should be use as part of the educational process.I think anything that can help both teachers and students in the learning process is a good thing.
       In the article the author state that world we live today is far more connect than ever before thanks to the internet and he believe that teachers should use it like any other educational tool. He also state that parents shouldnt let today technology raise their kids instead they so help thier kids to find a balance between the two worlds.One that techology can be use in education is in research information.
       Now i know that they are alot of things online that are not true but the internet is a good soruce of as information well. for example it a few months ago i was helping a friend of my with a paper. she had to find out information on two wars in the 20th century and compare them. Her and i spend four nights online looking for information.we found alot of articles from several online database. This process saved us a lot of  time and legwork.
   Another way that techology be use in the education process is get work assignments for class. the one thing i love about most of my classes now is that most of the materals from in class lesson can be found on blackboard. Blackboard has help me out alot of times in the past; one example i can give happend during the summer. At the time i was taking an intro to language class; in a 12 week semeter this class is diffcult so imagine taking it in the 6 week semeter. One of things that made the class easier was that our professor all the notes and homework on blackboard. so just in case you miss class you wouldn't be left behind.
     Education is a weapon against world of ignorant. in order to obtain it we must use all the tools at our disposal.the world is full of knowledge both good and bad it job of the teacher to show the student knowledge. if that means spending time in front of a computer srceen then so be it.

Cat 4.3 Fat City

“I’m loving it!”, “We do chicken Right.” “Have it your way” what do these Three phrases have in common? Well they are the slogan for some of the world top Fast food Chains. The moment you hear the words “I’m loving it.” You think of McDonald and start thinking about a big Mac and fries. It is slogan likes these that make the fast industry a multibillion dollar juggernaut, but while these companies are making their profit lines fatter the food that they serve is just making us fat. This over consumption of fast food is turning us into a nation of overweight slob who will have shorter lifespan, poor physical health and a lot less money in our pockets.

In the article “let them eat fat” by Greg Critser the author disuses how the food companies are criticize by nutritionists and dietitians a like for the food that they serve but nation health problem is not their fault alone. In fact it is the public {specify the poor} that are asking for increase in cheap meals done quickly. Now while having a meal that only cost five dollars sound great to your wallet the long term cost is a bit too high. The long term cost from eating all these cheap meals is to your health. In our nation today we are dealing with more health problems than ever; from heart disease to diabetes the country physical health is being destroy by it over consumption of this kind of food. Oh and that money that you saved by eating that McDonald’s burger will end up go to your health insurance company to pay for your bypass surgery.

A perfect example of how a fast food diet can destroy your body is the movie “Super-size me.” In the documentary the filmmaker put himself on a diet of nothing but McDonalds’ for 30 days. During the course over the movie we see his body breakdown form consuming fast food. He experiences a number of health issues from this experiment. Now that was just 30 days now just imagine diet of this kind of food over 30 years. It is not a pleasant thought.

So what can we to stop this breakdown in our nation health? Well the easiest answer is to eat health but in today busy world that not is. Now I'm not tell you which to all soy diet. what i am trying to say is
